Throughout my many years of long distance running I experienced what is referred to as the “runner’s high.” The result of endorphins being released from the brain. After an hour of running I felt grounded, emotionally regulated, and even peaceful. I also slept more soundly.
In the 70’s when I started group fitness classes I experienced the same responses, as those “feel-good” endorphins released and flowed through my blood stream. This is the hook for fitness enthusiasts, or so I think. Of course there’s the benefit of improving physical health, but it’s hard to beat the calming effect those natural endorphins have on the nervous system. This referees to the Brain part of the STIRLING METHOD fitness.
Holistic medicine or Integrative medicine had also begun to infiltrate the western world as people where looking for more natural ways to heal disease. Canada is behind on training doctors in this field. There has always been a place for pharmaceuticals, and always will be, however it’s not the only way. It is a part of an overall holistic approach.
Integrative Medicine in the Canadian Medical Profession: Certificate of Added Competence Proposal for Physicians
Esther Konigsberg, BSC, MD, CCFP
“Integrative medicine (IM) is the medical term used when complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies are integrated with conventional medical care. Many Canadians now use CAM therapies,1even though their medical doctors often lack exposure to these therapies,2,3 due in part to limited medical education opportunities while in medical school and subsequently in post-graduate medical education.” https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10326368/
Biofield Science and Healing: History, Terminology, and Concepts
Beverly Rubik, PhD, David Muehsam, PhD, Richard Hammerschlag, PhD, and Shamini Jain, PhD
“The term biofield was proposed in 1992 by an ad hoc committee of CAM practitioners and researchers convened by the newly established Office of Alternative Medicine (OAM) at the US National Institutes of Health (NIH). . .
The committee defined biofield as “a massless field, not necessarily electromagnetic, that surrounds and permeates living bodies and affects the body.”
After many years of studying metaphysics and experiencing the physical, mental, and emotional healing benefits, to read this statement written by scientists is simply put, exciting! I know we are rather re-inventing the wheel as indigenous peoples around the world have used spiritual and natural treatments for millennia. However, here we are.
It was an exciting time for me when I recently began to associate Physical exercises with the flow or lack of flow through my Energy Body’s system. The first time I connected the two I was doing a sumo squat with dumbbell front raises. I noticed the impact the squats had on my grounding. I also noticed how my life force energy flowed more freely up the front channels while doing front raises. I then began to apply all exercise moves to the Energy body’s flow. Being conscious of both my Physical body and Energy body has added an exciting dimension to my workouts. I began to see a way for folks that simply cannot or should not meditate to learn and heal their Energy Body. A practice that has changed my life from one of feeling constantly threatened by challenges, to one of feeling secure and safe no matter the challenge.
I look forward to sharing the value of this Integrative fitness method with you.
